| Título: | Variação linguística: uma análise comparativa entre as obras Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone e Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone |

| Resumo: | A partir da análise comparativa entre as obras literárias Harry Potter and Philosopher 's Stone e Harry Potter and the Sorcerer' s Stone é possível perceber variações linguísticas decorrentes das adaptações do inglês britânico para o americano, respectivamente. Portanto, esta pesquisa busca listar as variações linguísticas presentes entre as obras e, ainda, analisá-las à luz da sociolinguística, baseando-se em estudos prévios acerca da variação linguística feitos por autores como Labov (1983), Bakhtin (1929) e Gregory (2001). As obras, uma com inglês britânico, edição de 2004, e outra com inglês americano, edição de 2008, ambas de autoria da escritora J.K.Rowling, são comparadas nesta pesquisa, com o objetivo de analisar os tipos de variação linguística encontradas e suas características. É possível associar as variações linguísticas presentes nesse estudo como produto das transformações históricas, culturais e geográficas da língua inglesa durante toda a sua evolução. |
| Abstract: | From a comparative analysis between the literary works Harry Potter and Philosopher 's Stone and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone it is possible to perceive linguistic variations arising from the adaptations of the British English to the American, respectively. Therefore, this research aims to list the linguistic variations present between the works and also analyze them using sociolinguistics, based on previous studies on linguistic variation made by authors such as Labov (1983), Bakhtin (1929) and Gregory (2001). The works, one with British English, 2004 edition, and the other with American English, 2008 edition, both written by J.K.Rowling, are compared in this research, with the aim of analyzing the types of linguistic variation found and their characteristics. It is possible to associate the linguistic variations present in this study as a product of the historical, cultural and geographical transformations of the English language throughout its evolution. |
