A educação como instrumento de transformação social no enfrentamento à violência contra as mulheres piauienses

Abstract

This Final Course Work (TCC) addresses education as an instrument of social transformation in the fight against violence against women in the state of Piauí. The research problem is centered on how education acts as an instrument of social transformation in the fight against violence against women in Piauí. The research aims to understand how education can be an effective tool for social change and for fighting violence against women in Piauí. The main objective is to analyze education as an instrument of social transformation in the fight against violence against women in Piauí. The work seeks to identify the main types of violence faced by women in Piauí, the educational policies existing in the state and the government actions that impact the education and protection of women. In addition, the study aims to verify how public policies and education can contribute to the prevention of violence and the promotion of a more just and egalitarian society. The methodology adopted is bibliographic and documentary in nature, with an emphasis on the analysis of theoretical sources, laws, decrees and public policies aimed at the promotion of women's rights and education in human rights. To support the research, studies by Saffioti (2015), Arendt (2018), Aguiar and Gramacho (2023), Vigano and Laffin (2019), Foucault (2017), Dias (2019), Gohn (2018), Sousa (2023), Bona (2019), Santos and Costa (2023), Saviani (2016), Finco (2020), Carvalho and Moteroni (2016), Costa et al. (2015) and Santos (2018) were used. These authors contributed significantly to the understanding of the causes and consequences of gender-based violence, as well as to the analysis of educational strategies aimed at social transformation. The research also investigates government actions in Piauí aimed at confronting gender-based violence and how these are reflected in the educational environment. The study reveals that violence against women in Piauí is strongly linked to cultural and social issues that perpetuate gender inequality, highlighting that education has a fundamental role in changing these patterns, being a powerful tool for raising awareness and empowering both women and men. The implementation of effective public policies and the inclusion of gender issues in school curricula are essential to promote a culture of respect and equity. In conclusion, the study highlights that education not only contributes to the formation of more conscious citizens, but also to social transformation, by addressing and combating violence against women. The research reinforces the need for a coordinated commitment between the government, educational institutions and civil society to ensure that education fulfills its transformative function, contributing to a more egalitarian society free from gender violence in Piauí.
