Análise das técnicas de tradução na série stranger things: um estudo comparativo entre o original em inglês e a versão em português

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the translation techniques used in the series Stranger Things, focusing on the adaptation of dialogues and narratives for the Brazilian audience. The research was developed through a bibliographic approach based on studies of audiovisual translation and investigated how translation decisions impact the narrative coherence, style, and atmosphere of the series. The analysis involved identifying the differences and similarities between the original English version and the Portuguese version, as well as evaluating the translation strategies used to ensure linguistic fluency, fidelity to the original text, and cultural appropriateness. Through the analysis of selected scenes, such as the communication between Joyce and Will in the Upside Down and Eleven's origin reveal, it was possible to observe that the translation and dubbing preserved the emotional essence and narrative of the series, adapting to the Brazilian cultural context. The study also addressed translation decisions regarding cultural adaptation and the preservation of the emotional impact of the work, The results indicate that the Portuguese translation of Stranger Things successfully preserved the atmosphere and emotional content of the series, ensuring an immersive and accessible experience for the Brazilian audience. The main authors who supported the research were: Baker (2006), Nida (2002), Ramael (2022), among others. This work contributes to the understanding of the audiovisual translation process and its challenges, emphasizing the importance of balancing fidelity to the original and cultural adaptation.
