Crianças entre a fantasia e o real na ditadura militar em "Clarice": perspectivas libertárias

Abstract

This study analyzes the book Clarice (2018), by Roger Mello, with illustrations by Felipe Cavalcante, considering children's and young adult literature as a means of opposition to the period of the Military Dictatorship in Brazil. The research aims to investigate how fantasy and reality are configured within the scope of the military regime, experienced representatively by children's protagonists of the work Clarice (2018), through the interaction between word and illustration, from the perspective of a libertarian character. The research methodology adopted is a qualitative approach, of a bibliographic nature, of a descriptive-interpretative and analytical nature, focused on the analysis of the story and illustrations present in the literary book, from the perspective of literary criticism; together with fundamental theories on children's and young adult literature, fantasy and reality, oppression, written text and illustration and liberating imaginary. The findings demonstrate that the union between text and image helps in the creation of a critical interpretation of reality, allowing fantasy to function not as escapism, but as a way of symbolically facing and constructing meanings. The work reveals itself to be a relevant case of how children's and young adult literature can be a place of freedom, by giving children represented in difficult situations the chance to be the distinct characters in their trajectory. The research therefore highlights the capacity of literature to lead to reflection, revisit important historical moments in Brazil, from libertarian perspectives, such as identity, freedom and resistance, and, consequently, encourage the emancipation of young readers, through creative, thought-provoking and engaged production on social issues.
