Patrícia Galvão (Pagu) e Parque Industrial: a vida militante e a literatura engajada no Brasil nos anos 1930

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the trajectory of the writer Patrícia Galvão, Pagu, focusing on her political activism. As well as to analyze the work Parque Industrial as a literary representation of political and social issues in Brazil in the 1930s. Pagu is the author of the work that became the first proletarian novel in Brazilian literature, which carries a narrative motivated by the artistic transformations proposed by the modernist movement, driven by the Modern Art Week of 1922. The setting of Parque Industrial is the Brás neighborhood in São Paulo, a working-class neighborhood and stronghold of Italian immigration. Pagu draws on the experience of her own proletarianization; there is nothing similar in Brazilian literature in her feminist and communist activism. The methodology for this study was a literature review and used bibliographic research sources such as scientific articles, newspapers, books, monographs, theses and websites related to the theme “Patrícia Galvão (Pagu) and Parque Industrial: militant life and engaged literature in Brazil in the 1930s”
