Educação em direitos humanos: vivências LGBTQIAPN+

Abstract

This paper discusses Human Rights Education (HRE) in promoting equality and respect for diversity, with a focus on the LGBTQIAPN+ community in Brazil. With the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and the 1988 Constitution, the dignity and equality of all are guaranteed principles, but still systematically violated, making HRE essential to foster individual awareness. To this end, we propose to understand the historical process of HRE and the LGBTQIAPN+ movement in Brazil. The qualitative methodology and bibliographic analysis were chosen to deepen the understanding of the participants' experiences. The text traces a history of Human Rights, from the post-World War II period and the creation of the UN, until Brazil's accession to international treaties after redemocratization (1985). It discusses the "generations of rights" and the evolution of HRE in Brazil, which gained institutional recognition in the 1990s and culminated in the National HRE Guidelines. Finally, the article portrays the complex struggle of the LGBTQIAPN+ community in Brazil, marked by prejudice and violence, but also by the creation of movements such as the MHB and the emergence of "waves" of activism, culminating in the search for inclusion in the formulation of public policies. The research concludes that, despite the advances, the effectiveness of Human Rights for the LGBTQIAPN+ community still requires the continuous construction of a more just and inclusive society.
