O impacto da Lei 10.639/03 na promoção da identidade e autoestima em alunos negros

Abstract

This article highlights the relevance of Law n. 10.639/2003, which amended the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB) to make the teaching of Afro- Brazilian and African History and culture mandatory in schools, contributing to the promotion of the identity and self-esteem of black students in Basic Education. The subject is relevant because education is considered a fundamental instrument in confronting racial prejudice and promoting social justice. The general objective is to analyze the impacts of Law n. 10.639/2003 on the formation of the identity and self-esteem of black students, considering the school environment and its influence on the formation of these subjects. The methodology used in this research is qualitative and exploratory, aiming to understand how Law n.10.639/03 affects the formation of the identity and self-esteem of black students. Bibliographic research was used as the main method, based on academic works, scientific articles, dissertations, legislation and official documents that deal with the theme of ethnic- racial relations in education. Law n. 10.639/03 is an important strategy to promote more equitable and inclusive education, although it still faces challenges for its effective implementation.
