O sujeito fragmentado em O Filho Eterno: memória e construção ficcional

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the fictional feature in the book O filho eterno, written by Cristovão Tezza as well as verify the narrator's point of view about the child with Down syndrome and the fact that he devotes himself to the theme after twenty-five years after the birth of the child; identifying the difficulties faced by the father in his relationship with Felipe and the down syndrome, taking into account the construction of fragmented language in the narrative; besides analyzing the conceptions of time in the narrative of Tezza and the representation of the melancholy in the language of O filho eterno. There is an emphasis on the representation of memory, highlighting the narrative digression through the flows of consciousness of the father, as well as the passage of time to the melancholic character and the subjectivity of the narrator. There is in the book the construction of a fictional world that uses the experiences of life as the first source of inspiration, but which, by configuring it through language, transcends it, transforms it. The novel thematizes the story of a father who discovers that the son has Down's syndrome in the 80's and presents pendant movements of the narrator without a chronological pattern, therefore, without linearity. The process of paternity represented in the work is constituted by the awareness of the passage of time, but mainly, by the finding of what loses in the child due to its melancholic condition, identified in language. We investigate the hypothesis that there is in the fictional construction of Tezza reflections of the parent subject as narrator and character, thus manifesting in language the difficulty in delimiting a boundary between fiction and non-fiction in the work.
