Itinerários de gênero e poder na ficção de Alvina Gameiro

Abstract

Believing that literature evidences, from an aestheticised language, the subtleties of the collective imaginary more strongly rooted in the individual, we sought to comprehend how the gender and power relations are shown in the work of Alvina Gameiro. We selected as corpus of analysis the following works of Alvina Gameiro: A Vela e o Temporal (1996) and O Vale das Açucenas (s.d.), chosen because they comprise the literary production of Alvina in prose and because they were her two first books. For that, we elected as goals of this research the following ones: to comprehend, through the representations of women in the work of Alvina Gameiro, the gender and power relations. Keeping in mind that the proposed analysis seeks to understand, through literature of feminine authorship, the gender and power relations that pervade the narratives, the investigation method adopted was the quantitative analytical, adopted here with the goal to comprehend and to interpret, through the experience of the literary text of feminine authorship, the representations of women and the gender and power relations in the selected corpus. The techniques of research adopted were the bibliographic and documental ones. The bibliographic research covers the theoretical references that guided the analysis: in order to understand the debate of feminine text as a source of research, we recourse to Elaine Showalter (1994); the conception of gender was based on the studies of Joan Scott (1995); in Genette (1995) we looked for the orientations to analyse the narrative organizations of the corpus, and the ideas of Pierre Bourdieu (2012) helped to compose the analysis of the more social character of power relations. The relation of female narrative in first-person and use of flashback makes up the universe of experience of the main characters on both novels.
