Poéticas das imagens: traços singularizadores da linguagem cinematográfica de Vale Abraão de Manoel de Oliveira

Abstract

The objective of this work is to show the cinematographic language singularities of Abraham Valley that characterize the artistic work of filmmaker Manoel Oliveira, notable in the overall composition of the work and the semiosis that exists between literature and cinema and its respective singularities. It observes, in the literary inferences of philosophical imprint, in the building of the plot, of the characters, and especially of the complex figure of the main character, the text materiality and context of the movie transcription, that are present in the existing affinities between filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira and writer Agustina Bessa Luís. It analyzes the richness of the scenic details, the dialogues between characters, the constant presence of the narrator, the musical thematic of the film, the camera objectivity, the stereotyped figure of the character and the mythic and literary references that compose the film, demonstrated in the stillness of the camera and the presence of the narrator, that characterizes the poetic objectivity of the filmmaker in which the main character definitions made again are perceived in the discourse of the Other, and, in the musical theme repetition, which gives meaning and sense to the movie work, which reveals a mis-en-cadre, through a character that is beyond its own genre, mythic figure denoted through its stereotype and its androgynous, with singularized traces of Manoel de Oliveira´s movie language. Using as basis, recent studies about the works of those already made by theorists that contemplate the insertion of the literature with film and the cinema as narrative that subside this study, such as David Bordwell, Francis Vanoye, Christian Metz, Robert Stam, Antonio Candido, Tânia Carvalhal, among others.
