Mímesis em Malhadinha, José Expedito Rêgo: representação irônica de um sistema social em decadência

Abstract

This study proposes an analysis about the romance Malhadinha (1990), by José Expedito Rego, based on the mimetic theory reworked by Luiz Costa Lima. It prioritizes, in this commitment the reflections on the mimesis representation _, to demonstrate how the romance appropriates a grandiose universe of similarities in the face of its external referent without leaving thus printing the vector fundamental difference in mimesis as an artistic phenomenon. The hypothesis is that the difference marked by the work is linked to the central theme that starting from mimesis, is constituted as ironic representation of a social system in decay. From this perspective, this work, in addition to an introductory chapter, is developed through discussions proposed on three main pillars: a first basically theoretical chapter about mimesis concepts from the classical notion of imitatio to his understanding as a game of similarities and differences; and two analytical chapters in which its investigates the work in the light of the theory discussed in the previous moment of research, dialoguing with other theoretical postulates that contribute to clarifying the case. Thus, in the second chapter we discuss the representation of patriarchy in Romance Malhadinha; and third, we investigate by dialogue between irony and mimesis, decay traits present in the romance in question and identifiable on the descriptions as well as the interchange of voices by the narrator's speech and characters. To reach the proposed objectives, this study has the fundamental theoretical anchoring in the concept of mimesis revitalized by Costa Lima (2003, 2014); and also based on the contributions, among others, Bakhtin (2010, 2015) and Friedman (2002) on aspects about the romance; Bourdieu (2014) and Saffioti (2004) about the patriarchy; and Brait (2008) on irony. As a result of this investigation, it is concluded the romance Malhadinha, articulating resemblance with difference, in other words , turning the historical material in fiction, emerging as artistically mimetic product that lends the world a different way of looking at a historic moment of the past, from the similarities of this horizon.
