Abstract: The general objective of this study is to examine the textualizing process of the oral report genre and its retextualizing for written, from oral reports of 7th graders of elementary school in teaching contexts. Specifically we aimed to identify characteristic linguistic and non-linguistic elements of orality in the oral texts of the students; the characteristic linguistic elements of the written mode of language; the strategies of retextualizing they employed while converting from oral to written and also analyze comparatively the aspects involved in the process of retextualizing performed at author-text and not the author-text productions. After established specific objectives, the research is guided by the following questions: Which characteristic linguistic and non-linguistic elements of orality do the students utilize in the production of oral texts?; while retextualizing from oral language to written, does the student considers the linguistic and textual aspects pertaining to written language?; which adaptation strategies do the students utilize to retextualize from oral to written language mode and what the relation between the retextualizing performed by not the author and the author of the original text at the process of converting from oral to written? In this study expects to validate or not the assertions that, in the production of oral texts, the student uses characteristic linguistic and non-linguistic elements of orality; when retextualizing from oral to written, the student considers the linguistic and textual aspects pertaining to written language; during the retextualizing from oral to writing, the students utilize language adaptation strategies to written mode; and while retextualizing, the author of the original text performs more changes to the original text than not the author one, we take as basis the model of textual-discursive operations in the conversion of the oral text to written text, proposed by Marcuschi. The main authors, in which are based the theoretical foundations of the research are Bakhtin (1997), Bronckart (2012), Marcuschi (2008), Marcuschi (2010), Dell'Isola (2007) Geraldi (2006), Schhneuwly and Dolz (2004). We adopted for the progress of the research the qualitative approach. Data were collected from the direct contact of the researcher with the subjects involved. We have defined as categories of analysis the oral text, written text, retextualizing strategies adapted from Marcuschi model and the confrontation between the retextualizing performed by the author of the original text and not the author one. The results from the analysis of the data indicate the need for a proposal of intervention, aimed at diminishing the difficulties presented by the students in the use of oral and written language.
