Due to the expansion of bilingual education in Brazil, more precisely in Teresina, we decided to investigate the semiosis (speech, writing, audio and images): tools used in the classroom to help students acquire an additional language (in this case English). In this perspective, we investigate the role of these resources in the teaching-learning process. To do so, we selected the didactic material of the bilingual program of the UNO System of Education to analyze the suggestions contained in the teacher's manual regarding the use of multiple semiosis in the classroom. The study aims to analyze the integration of these resources in the didactic material (manual and textbook). In addition, we aim to describe three days of unit four of the Bilingual textbook K2 - Bimester 2, pointing out the prominent semiotic features; to characterize the guidelines on the use of multimodal resources present in the teacher's manual and to analyze the images according to the ideational metafunction of Visual Design Grammar, by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006), in order to ascertain the consonance between what the images communicated to the pedagogical proposals suggested by the teacher's manual. The hypothesis that motivates this study is that the didactic material encourages the use of the semiosis in a context of bilingual education. The theoretical framework adopted focuses on authors who discuss acquisition, bilingualism and bilingual education: García (2009), Leffa and Irala (2014), Krashen (1986), Beardsmore (1986), E. García (2005), Megale (2005), Ng and Wigglesworth (2007), Harmers and Blanc (2000) and Baker (2011). As for multimodal and multilevel theories, we rely on Kress and van Leeuwen (2001) and Kress and van Leeuwen (2006), Anstey and Bull (2006), Kalantzis and Cope (2012) and Callow (1999) respectively. This research adopts a methodology of qualitative approach, with a descriptive nature. In a first moment, we pointed out the integration of the semiotic modes and their possibilities of use according to the suggestions contained in the teacher's manual of the UNO System of teaching. In sequence, we analyzed the images of the textbook, in the light of the Visual Design Grammar. The results of the analyzes indicated that the manual promotes the use of such resources in the classroom to trigger the acquisition, but sometimes ends up focusing on one mode and neglecting the communicative potential of another. In addition, we attested that most of the images in the textbook are associated with the meanings they intend to communicateeng
