Abstract: The Victorian woman of the nineteenth century did not have much opportunity to express their view of the world. They were born with their destiny already decided and did not have many rights, only for the private world, that is, the domestic universe, so they were considered subservient to man, either their father or husband. The fairer sex also had no right to information, the "knowledge", this issue lasted for a long time until they got tired and decided to claim their rights in society. The English novel by Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice (1813) shows the role of the female sex seen as inferior on that conservative authoritarian and patriarchal society in which women had no rights and are always seen as being overwhelmed. But amid the various submissive characters Austen reveals Elizabeth Bennet, a woman who does not accept this imposition of submission, this role of disability, looking to make her own choices, thereby deciding her future. This paper aims to analyze the representations of female characters in the austenian novel through theorists like Michelle Perrot (2005), Beauvoir (1970), Woolf (1985), Andrea Nye (1995), Zollin (2005), Zinani (2007) and Cetilli (1993). A survey was done on the most important foundations of Romanticism and the main characteristics of the characters and the novelist in relation to her writing style, concluding that the novelist, despite having some characteristics related to Romanticism, is not part of this movement, and that the author uses her characters to demonstrate her thought, thus making them a kind of reflection of authorial voice.
